Is acid reflux ruining your life? Are you sure you don't have Helicobacter?

Hi, my name is Bob and this is my helicobacter story.

It is not a sales pitch, or a trick, or a gimmick. This page is all there is – I’m not going to ask for your email address or try to sell you an ebook, this is completely free.

The reason that it’s free is that I feel so strongly about this subject that I tell everyone about my experience. Someone mentions acid reflux to me at work, at a party, at the game and I tell them this story. Everyone who knows me, knows my story. If I have a mission in life then this is it. Putting my story on this site was an opportunity not to be missed. I hope it stops you suffering as I did.

It might be the most important thing you do today (or for the next ten years!). It could change your life, it changed mine.

When I was 23 I started to suffer from indigestion so regularly that I was never, and I mean never, without some form of antacid. Everywhere I went I would take antacids. If I was in a restaurant waiting for food I would not be able to drink any alcohol, not even a sip of wine without an acid flare up. Sometimes the smell of a delicious meal would bring on an attack.

If I ate too much I would wake in the night with such a severe case of acid reflux I would literally be choking and gasping for breath. I regularly frightened my wife with these attacks.

Since my father had also suffered from this condition I assumed, wrongly, that it was some form of genetic problem and that I would just have to grin and bear it.

This I did for years and years. I cannot describe to you how often meals and family celebrations were ruined by my acid and how often I had a terrible night’s sleep propped up in bed hoping I wouldn’t end up once again choking. It was truly miserable.

This lasted for a decade.

Yes, 10 long years and hundreds if not thousands of packets of antacids.

Then, purely by good fortune when I was 33 I got a serious lung infection. I say good fortune because while I was at the doctors and they were taking my symptoms, they asked if there any other issues besides the excruciating pain in my right lung. Well, as luck would have it I was also having a real issue with my acid reflux that week. I actually thought they may be related so I mentioned this to the doctor.

He asked how long I had suffered from acid reflux and how often etc. Eventually he said that it had nothing whatsoever to do with the lung infection and its flare up was purely coincidental. He did schedule me for some additional tests, not on my lung but on my stomach. (The lung issue was resolved with oral medication taken 3 times daily).

I must admit that not only was I a little confused but also a little concerned, especially as the tests included an endoscopy. Well sure enough I had the tests and lo and behold it turns out that I have a virus living in my stomach called Helicobacter Pylori. It might well have been living there for the whole ten years.

I had never heard of this, but it seems that Helicobacter Pylori is fairly common and is remarkably easy to treat. A one week course of heavy weight antibiotics, some other temporary medication (Lansoprazole, or Losec for a while) and hey presto, gone. Now, because I had had this virus for so long my stomach and esophagus had a number of ulcers which did continue to cause discomfort for the next couple of months until they gradually healed and disappeared.

This happened 6 years ago.

Since that time I have occasionally suffered from acid indigestion, but not acid reflux.

I have not lost a single night’s sleep because of acid reflux since then.

I take an antacid occasionally (about once a month, instead of five to ten times a day), usually if I have been particularly stressed at work, or if I have eaten too much turkey dinner!

I cannot begin to describe how much better my life is since I got rid of the Helicobacter Pylori that was making me so miserable.

Helicobacter Pylori.

Helicobacter Pylori was behind my problems with acid reflux. Since I have been cured I’ve heard so many stories like this. I wanted to share this with you in case you think to yourself ‘that sounds like me’. You never know, a course of treatment might be all that stands between you and enjoying a hearty meal without paying for it later.

I urge you to find out for yourself if you have Helicobacter.

You can buy home test kits (if we find one online we will put a link here) or ask you doctor.

If your experience is like mine it will be the best thing you ever did.

The very best of luck
