Helicobacter pylori is a spiral shaped bacterium that lives in the stomach and duodenum (section of intestine just below stomach).Within a relatively short period of time gastritis and perhaps eventually a peptic ulcers can result.
More serious than Duodenal and gasric ulcers is the potential for stomach cancer. Somach cancers are often associated with HP.
